Baseball’s Own Artist Comes to SF to Unveil the Giants’ Victory Painting

Opie Otterstad will be in town to unveil his painting of the San Francisco Giants’ World Series championship moment. People can join in the ceremony in person or online.

San Francisco, CA (Vocus/PRWEB) April 29, 2011

The official 2010 painting of the San Francisco Giants World Series “Celebration” by Opie Otterstad will be unveiled and available for viewing on April 29th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at LC Gallery in San Francisco. The edition release ceremony continues the following day on April 30th with a meet-and-greet event at Lipary Collectibles in Martinez from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Both events have limited live public attendance, but will be available for all the fans to view via a live stream online at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/lcg—events .

Opie himself will be on hand for all the release ceremonies. It’s a rare opportunity to take pictures and talk with him about his exciting life as the painter of baseball. He will dedicate the limited edition canvas prints to anyone who makes a purchase. Opie, an official artist of Major League Baseball, has created the only licensed and sanctioned painting of the World Series winning team every year for the past decade.

Artist Opie Otterstad is more likely to be found with a canvas propped up on his lap in a spring training dugout than in his studio. Opie has made a name for himself as baseball’s own artist laureate, becoming as much a part of the game’s landscape as any player or coach. His years of painting baseball’s greatest teams, moments and players from his insider perspective have brought him a relationship with the game that no other artist has ever enjoyed. As a result, most of Opie’s paintings are owned by the players and team owners, making Opie the most collected artist in baseball history.

This unprecedented relationship with America’s past time led to Opie becoming the first artist sanctioned by MLB to capture the World Series victory. A decade later, this has become a big part of the World Series traditions, right along with the team rings and parade through the town of the victors. This coming weekend all fans can take part in this special occasion with Opie Otterstad, as he unveils the painting and its limited edition prints.
